ABOUT ME

ARRA Guitarworks is a company-of-one run by me, Adrian Rybarczyk.

You’ll find me in my luthier’s workshop upstairs at The Cooperage, nestled in a hidden courtyard down a lane in Strathbungo - Glasgow’s deep south.

I truly love setting up and repairing a wide variety of acoustic & electric guitars, basses, banjos, mandolins and whatever other unusual stringed instruments come my way (hurdy-gurdies welcome).

The feeling of taking an out of shape, beaten up or neglected instrument and restoring it to its full, playable potential kind of fills me with joy.

It’s a bit weird I know but that’s me and it’s great news for your guitar/thing too.

When I’m not running the setup & repair side of the business I’m busy designing one of my new classical or steel string acoustic models which I will commence building in the Spring of 2024.

I think these are going to be very interesting instruments; old yet modern at the same time - I’ll be updating my progress on Instagram as I go.

How did I get here anyway?

After a life long battle with Obsessive Guitar Disorder (OGD) I finally buckled and enrolled to study for an HND in Stringed Instrument Manufacture & Repair at Anniesland (Clyde) College.

Whilst there I met some lovely, knowledgeable folk like classical guitar builders Pete Beer & Bill Kelday, as well as my fellow students whose collective ken often saved the day.

I learnt an unimaginable amount in a very condensed period of time and despite the COVID Lockdowns and having TWO children whilst in full time education I successfully graduated with my diploma in January, 2021.

I had left college with my first instrument; an almost completed Daniel Friederich inspired classical guitar with an elevated fingerboard.

But with no space and limited tools to finish it I was left frustrated and weighing up my options. I had fallen in love with luthiery and had no doubts about committing to it as a vocation.

So, I took the plunge and began the process of starting up a guitar setup & repair business to support my acoustic guitar building practice in parallel.

I’m delighted to say that after a tough start ARRA Guitarworks has finally found its place to be.
