Making it play better
I have the truest of geek love for setting up and repairing all manner of acoustic & electric guitars, basses, banjos, mandolins and whatever other unusual stringed instruments come my way (hurdy-gurdies welcome).
The feeling of taking an out of shape, beaten up or neglected instrument and restoring it to its full, playable potential kind of fills me with joy.
It’s a bit weird I know but that’s just me and it’s great news for you and your guitar/thing too.
Philosophy
I believe you and your instrument deserve the time and attention it takes to dial in a setup that suits your playing style, personal preferences and budget.
That’s why I offer 30 minute, one-to-one appointments to assess your instrument’s current condition, measure and record all it’s variables with precise equipment whilst getting to know you and your musical tastes.
No more waiting in queues in busy stores only for your requests to be dismissed by some opinionated Tech Lord - you’ll get the setup you want at ARRA Guitarworks.
And when you return to collect your freshly setup instrument you get another 30 minute slot to give it a thorough play. If it’s not quite right we can tweak it there and then or you can bring it back within my 14 day warranty window for another adjustment session.
You’ll also get a full M.O.T. style report on all the work done so you’ve got a record of all the important stuff to reference for future setups.
Experience
I qualified with an HND in Stringed Instrument Manufacture & Repair from Glasgow Clyde College in January of 2022.
After graduating I continued to work as a freelance live sound technician before finding my current workshop space at the Cooperage where I‘ve been offering my unique setup and repair services full time since October 2023.
