In parallel to running my stringed instrument setup and repair business I’m researching and developing new design ideas for both a nylon strung classical and steel strung acoustic guitar.
Although in different worlds sonically they will share my philosophy, approach to functional structure and of course commitment to playability.
I have no idea when I’ll get round to building them but I’ll let you know when I do.
I’m deeply inspired by the contemporary work of of 52 Instruments Co. out of Montreal and, closer to home, Taran Guitars based in Fife.
Delving into the elements of each maker’s design process has been an enlightening journey to say the least.
Hopefully my own instruments will add something to the great lineage of guitar innovation too.
